OUR STORY
WEI Power was established to bridge the divide between practical skills, formal qualifications, employment and economic opportunity.
WEI Power was established in response to two critical challenges within historically disadvantaged communities: the need for meaningful youth skills development, and the shortage of formally recognised skilled individuals within communities.
Many young people became increasingly despondent due to limited employment opportunities, while these same communities held a significant pool of talented, experienced artisans and tradespeople — skilled through years of practical experience, but without the formal qualifications needed to access employment.
The organisation’s commitment to community development was further reinforced by the Presidential visit in 2013 to the Eldorado Park community, which provided an important platform to advocate for greater access to education, skills development, training and employment.
What we accomplished over the years...
WEI Power has achieved numerous successes and established significant relationships within the Public Sector, working with government departments, Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), TVET colleges, universities, businesses, international partners, and community organisations.
WEI Power has the advantage of being close to the people it serves thru its NPC, WEI Force. This enables the organisation to identify challenges as they arise, respond quickly to community needs, and design interventions that are relevant to the local context. This hands-on approach strengthens the organisation’s ability to create meaningful and sustainable impact.
